A replica German-built 75mm Krupp artillery field gun on Magersfontein Hill aimed south towards the battlefield upon which British forces faced the Boer commandos lying in trenches below the hill on 11 December 1899. The British army was on the way to relieve Kimberley which had been besieged by the Boers.
