For railway enthusiasts, the history of the Southen African rail system ends in sadness. Built by British engineers in the late 19th and early 20th century, this railway system connected most of South Africa, Botswana (Bechuanaland), Rhodesia ( Zimbabwe) and South West Africa (Namibia). Today most of these rail tracks are no longer in operation and many station buildings have been vandalised or demolished by local governments. Museum in Richmond.
