It is thought that “Smitswinkel” means Blacksmith’s Shop it appears that this quaintly beautiful bay was named after two rocks that jut out of the sea which resemble an anvil and Bay along the coastal drive from Simon’ s Town near the entrance to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. It is relatively inaccessible, comprises a few privately owned houses but no road. Everything must be carried up or down the steep mountainside.
