Large pieces of wood and other flotsam, washed into the Indian Ocean by rivers, gather beneath the layered Sandstone cliffs and rock formations along the coastline between Stilbaai and Gouritzmond. They are bleached white by the sun but reflect the blue of the sky when photographed.
