On the the outskirt of the Free State town of Philipolis lies a large and overgrown cemetery or graveyard. The graves are often a mix of local residents and sometimes have the the graves of British and Boer soldiers that were killed in action during the South Arican War ( Boer War ) of 1899 to 1902. Municipal neglect and vadalism have contributed to the sad state and conditions of many of South African graveyards and cemeteries.
