Sockeye Salmon concentrate in a pool below a waterfall on an Alaskan river. The river was running unusually high and the salmon were being driven back from the cascades by the torrent, causing a build up at the base of the falls that a sow and two young brown bears were exploiting to the full. On the second day, I waited until the bears had eaten their fill and had moved off into the woods to rest and then crossed the river and clambered down to a spot at the pool where the salmon were lying
