The salted skins of a Black Backed Jackal hang in a barn of 'Koppies' Farm near Verneuk Pan in the northern Karoo. There preditors kill mostly sheep on South African farms and are considered vermin by many farmers. They are caught in traps, poisoned and shot in their thousands.
