The town of Richmond lies along the National Road, the N1, halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg. In recent years it has become know as a 'Book Town'. A few shops are specialising in a large number of special, out-of-print and antique books. This venue, that stretches over a couple of houses is run by John Donaldson and is named 'The House of Light and Shade'. Richmond also hosts an annual "Book Festival'
