Royal Albert Pottery, Parsonage Street, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, 1965-1968. A man carrying a saggar on his head through the wicket door of a kiln at the works, part of Alfred Meakin's Royal Albert & Victoria Potteries. A saggar protects pottery from damage during firing in a bottle oven. The bricks used to seal up the doorway during firing are stacked on either side of the entrance.
