Thecompany has secured a number of water power rights alongGrand River, and as soon as the stations are established itproposes to construct the road. The Kalamazoo, Lake Shore & Chicago Traction Companyhas purchased of the Michigan Central that stretch of trackbetween Kalamazoo and Mattawan, which the steam roadabandoned when it straightened its main line. The tractionexpects to have its cars running early in the year to South. The Grand Rapids & Ionia, the Grand Rapids, Belding& Greenville and the Ionia & Owosso lines are part of theinterurban system which ex-Governors John T. Rich andA. T. Bliss and their associates plan to construct. The Lan-sing-Jackson line is to be a part of the Mills-Elliott-Mooresystem, for which it is proposed to make Lansing the roadbed for the lines has been constructed to Mason,with the exception of a few short stretches, and all of theright of way has been secured.
