For fifteen years hefollowed the profession of teaching, and was regarded as an excellenteducator, having the ability to impart clearlv and impressively to othersthe knowledge he had acquired. In 1885 he came to Humboldt, where heengaged in teaching through the winter, while in the summer months hefollowed the insurance business. Ultimately he dropped his educationalwork and has since given his attention to the insurance and real estatebusiness, in which he has met with very desirable success. He has con-ducted many important realty transactions and is the owner of considerablevaluable property, having a farm of one hundred and sixty
