Blowing the shofar


Blowing the shofar in the Jewish ceremony of Tashlich, to begin the Jewish new year. , performed by the reform rabbi of Hillel. Tashlich which means to "cast off" in Hebrew, is a Jewish ritual performed on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The previous year's sins are symbolically "cast off" by throwing pieces of bread, or a similar food item, into a large, natural body of flowing water. This event took place at Ellwood beach in Goleta, where Santa Barbara and Goleta jewish community gathered together. september 2010
