Himalayan rescue helicopter, a man carried with acute mountain sickness [AMS] symptoms, Gorak Shep, Mount Everest Route, Nepal


AMS Acute Mountain Sickness is a life-threating condition, that may occur on high altitudes such as 3500m. This photograph was made in Gorak Shep at 5135m above sea level. This is the point for tourists that aim to see Mount Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar in Nepal. Many of ambitious trekkers ignore the symptoms continuing the journey up the mountains, Here is one of the examples of person who needed immediate medical help, unable to walk, confused, exhausted.
