heygate estate
The Heygate Estate was a large housing estate located in Walworth, Southwark, south London. The estate was demolished as part of the gentrification of the Elephant and Castle area. It was home to more than 3,000 people The Heygate was situated adjacent to Walworth Road and New Kent Road, and immediately east of the Elephant and Castle road intersection. Partly due to its neo-brutalist architecture, the estate was extensively used as a filming location.
