Andrew Fulton, No. 26, established the brassand bell foundry business in Pittsburg in 1832,which has proven itself a wonderful enterprise. In1883, it is said, that the establishment had almosta monopoly of the business of furnishing bells forthe western river steamboats, and for schools andchurches. In the year 1883 I met a Mr. Bailey, a memberof a firm of barge builders in Pittsburg, who saidto me that he was well acquainted with old AndyFulton, as he was familiarly called, and that hehad had a long and successful business experience,and that Andrew (Dick) Fulton, a son of SamuelFulton, had been mayor of Pittsburg, that hewas married, and had two daughters. James B. Fulton, No. 203, was chief engi-neer of the U. S. gunboat Louisville, in the CivilWar, and afterwards Chief Engineer Mound City-Navy Yard. Louis B. Fulton, No. 208, is the president ofthe Chaplin, Fulton Mfg. Co., Bell and BrassFounders, at 28 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg, who aresuccessors to A. Fultons Son & Co. Matthew H. Fulton, No. 221, served in thearmy during the Civil War, in the 9th Pennsylva-nia Reserves, and was wounded in the battle ofGaines Mill.
