A very fine American tree, resembling the Locust, with long racemes o^ white, sweet-scented flowers in June : a tree of slow growth, but one of the finest. WEEPING TREES. ASH, Weeping Ash (Fraxinus excelsior pendxda). A tree, of medium size, with stifle, twisted, pendulous branches. BEECH, AA^eeping Beech (Fagus pendula). A graceful, elegant tree, with branches more or less pendant. BIRCH, AVeeping Cut-Leaved Birch {Betula alba, \d,x. pendula laciniata). A charm- ing tree in the Northern states, but does not show so much beauty South, except in very favorable locations; it is of very graceful, drooping habit, silvery white bark and delicate, cut foliage. CHERRY, Dwarf Weeping Cherry (Cerasus pumila pendula). A curious and beau- tiful little round-headed drooping tree. DOGWOOD {Cornus pendula). Very similar in foliage and flower to the common white- Dogwood, yet Avith decidedly drooping branches ; hardy and very handsome ; makes brilliant autumn foliage ; a beautiful lawn tree of dwarf habit. ELM, CamperdoAvn AA''eeping Elm (Clnius \ Camperdown pendula). A drooping and picturesque variety of the Scotch Elm ; foliage large, dark green, covering the tree with a luxuriant mass of verdure. ]>rULBERRY.
