The war memorial at Burwash in the East Sussex Weald. In the background is the Church of St Bartholomew. The memorial was erected in 1920 to commemorate those men of Burwash who died in the Great War. Later the names of those killed in the second world was were added. At the top of the memorial can be seen the lantern house which is lit on the anniversary of the death of every man commemorated. Perhaps the most famous name on the memorial is that of Lt. John Kipling, son of Rudyard Kipling, who was killed at the battle of Loos in September 2015. He came to prominence with the play and film "My Boy Jack".
