The Ell- wanger-Barry School, No. 25, also ob- served the day. Work has begun on the planting of trees and shrubs at Exposition park, under the supervision of the city park board. The funds for carrying on this work come from the Exposition park board, a separate organization. Miss Turner was helping out for a few days at J. B. Keller Sons' last week. Visitors: James F. Smith, of Wm. J. Boas & Co., Philadelphia; M. Adler, the pin and novelty man, New York city; Julius Dilloflf, of Schloss Bros., New York city; E. K. Sithens, of the Bowen- Dungan Co., Philadelphia. The death of John Meinhard occurred April 30. He was the father-in-law of F. J. and William L. Keller and was most prominent in German circles, hav- ing resided in this city since 1876. He was 81 years old, but unusually active for his age. ; C. A. ST. LOUIS. The Market. It was an irregular market all of last week. There was an abundance of stock at all of the wholesale markets, where on some days business made a great showing and on other days was dull. The prices were low on big lots, but, as business was not any too brisk on the whole, the retailers did not buy heavily and only at bargain sales.
