Although the Carretera Austral 'officially' finishes at Villa O'Higgins, the gravel road continues for another 8 km to Bahia Bahamondez on the shores of Lago O'Higgins. From there, the adventurous traveller can travel by boat and walk or cycle into Argentina via minor tracks and paths.
