Aerostatic experiment of the Montgolfier brothers in Annonay, Vivarais Repeated in Paris on 27th August 1783 in the Champ de Mars Coloured etching with frame (43 x 53 cm) Muller-Quênot Collection The experiment involved a taffeta balloon coated with elastic rubber 36ft and 6in in circumference. The flight of this balloon, filled with ignitable air, was carried out by Robert after being granted national funding following its approval by Mr Faujas de Saint Fond.
