They should be kept clean and earthed up twice during the growth. The wrinkled varieties are not as hardy as the small, round sort, and if planted early should have a dry soil or they are liable to rot in the ground. Extra Early Dwarf Varieties Elarly Bird. Bolgiano's New Early Large Pod Pea. A ' very early, hardy, large podded, 2 to 2%- foot pea. Can be pulled as early as Pilot with pods double the size. A robust grower, heavy yielder, 9 to 10 peas in a pod. Can be sown with safety as soon as the ground can be worked. Pkt. 10 cts.; pt. 30 cts.; qt. 50 cts.; peck, $; bushel, $ Laxtonian. This handsome new wrinkled pea is the largest podded of the dwarf varieties on our list. The beau- tiful dark green pods are similar to Gradus in shape and splendid quality; are very nearly as large in size and ma- ture a little earlier.
