GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba – Author, illustrator and speaker Trevor Romain visited Sampson High school and talked to students about deployment, Nov. 30, 2009. Romain filmed the event to use for a portion of an upcoming educational DVD named, “With You All the Way,” that focuses on how children cope with their parent’s absence during deployments. Students from military families who support both Joint Task Force Guantanamo and Naval Station Guantanamo Bay attended the event. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations.
