The Palace was inhabited by the Court until Henry the VI Il. reign, when, with the exception of occasional visits from Elizabeth, the Court* finally removed to Whitehall, and the Palace was wholly given up to Parliament. It was finally burnt down in 1834, and those portions which fortunately escaped the flames, were incorporated in the New Building designed by Sir Charles Barry, one Of the finest buildings in the world, the cost Of which was over 13,000,000. Admission is easily obtained while Parliament is not sitting, by an order from the Lord Chamberlain's Office within the building, but during the actual session, only to the Strangers Galleries by order, either from a peer to the one, or from a member for the other "
