This change was made after location EE was added to have thesections in alphabetical order in track. It will also be noted that the above includes four different designs of joint bars andalso includes for the new 115 AREA headfree design a test section with the new AREApunching and a test section with a 4-hole punching for a 36-in length bar. Fig. 2 onpage 573 of AREA Bulletin 486, February 1950, shows mile posts, highways, designationletters, and joint bar description relative to each test section. Measurements of rail surfaceprofile, joint camber, and out-to-out distances of bars were made in May 1949, May1950, May 1951, and July 1952. The results of these measurements are shown on Figs. 4,5 and 6. Conclusion In the early phase of the life of the joint bars no great difference in the performancemay be expected, which is shown on Figs. 1-6. It may be noted, though, that t
