A female variable Sunbird feeds a Klaas’s Cuckoo chick (Chrysococcyx Klaas) thinking it’s their hatchling in Kasangati - Kampala Uganda.

Most Cuckoos are brood parasites. They lay their eggs in the nests of other bird species leaving the host birds to incubate the eggs and raise Cuckoos. Once the Cuckoo hatches, it will eject the rightful hatchlings from their nest. The host bird feeds the” killer” Cuckoo until it grows up and unceremoniously flies away. If the Cuckoo is a female, it will return to the same location to breed and lay its eggs in the nests of other birds.
