MODEL RELEASED. Newborn baby. Nurses attending to a newborn baby in the delivery room. The baby's umbilical cord has been clamped and cut. It will shrivel up and fall of in between seven to ten days. This baby was delivered by caesarean section. This operation involves making an incision through the abdomen and uterus in order to remove the baby. Caesareans are usually performed when a vaginal delivery would lead to complications, although some women choose to have their baby delivered this way.
