Cardiac ablation surgery screens. Monitors and equipment being used during cardiac ablation surgery. Cardiac ablation is a technique that uses catheters inserted into the heart to heat or freeze tissue to ablate (destroy) the tissue to reset the coronary rhythm. This technique is usually used to treat arrhythmia (an irregular heart beat). The positioning of the catheters is monitored using an X-ray machine (upper left), with the X-rays shown on the screen at centre. Photographed in the UK.
