The statue was taken from its stand at Gortmore viewing point on Binevenagh Mountain near Limavady, Co Londonderry. The statue watched over Magilligan and out to Co Donegal in the Republic of Ireland and had become a popular tourist attraction on the famous Causeway Coast.
