Hyperbaric chamber in a hospital. Patient being prepared for treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. Hyperbaric chambers are capable of holding patients for long periods in a high pressure environment. In hospitals they are used for recompression treatment of SCUBA divers suffering from decompression sickness, and also in hyperbaric therapy to treat certain conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning and embolisms.
