Volcanic eruption. Lava fountain erupting during volcanic activity on Reunion, an island in the Indian Ocean. This is part of an eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise (Peak of the Furnace) volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. This eruption was the largest at this volcano in the past 100 years. Photographed on 2nd April 2007.
