ARABIAN GULF (Nov. 20, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Stephen Smithbrandt, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., acts as the control talker for fueling operations in the flight deck control room of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Smithbrandt serves aboard Ike as an aviation boatswain's mate (fuels). Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, a multinational effort to weaken and destroy Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant operations in the Middle East region and around the world.
