PACIFIC OCEAN (July 13, 2017) Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate Conrad Matthias, a native of Los Angeles, assigned to the deck department aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), stands watch as the conning officer on the ship’s bridge wing. San Diego is embarked on a scheduled deployment as part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, which is comprised of more than 1,800 Sailors and 2,600 Marines assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), and San Diego.
