This will be a good start-ing-point for a discussion of nesting-boxes and for starting a bird-house com-petition. The bird-house that isnever occupied may discourage thebudding germ of nature interestin the youthful mind, and ordinarilythe lack of an occupant is due asmuch to poor placing as to im-proper construction. The studyof bird-homes should not ceasewith the study of winter nests andthe building of bird-houses. Thiswork should be finished and thebird-houses in place by the middleof March, in time to turn the atten-tion to the home-building of theearly Robins and Bluebirds andSong Sparrows.
