When he goes fishing by torch-light his net is ofcocoanut fibre, the torch or chule is a bundle of dried cocoanutleaves and flower-stalks; the little canoe is the trunk of thecocoa-palm tree, hollowed by his own hands. He carries homehis net and string of fish on a yoke, or pingo, formed of acocoanut stalk. When he is thirsty, he drinks of the freshjuice of the young nut; wiien he is hungry, he eats its softkernel.
