Street life on an afternoon in Villa 31, Buenos Aires
Villa 31 is a large informal settlement in downtown Buenos Aires, one of the largest in the city with approximately 40,000-50,000 residents. It's a diverse neighborhood with residents from Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, and some African countries. Although it is stigmatized for being violent and dangerous, the residents are very friendly and it is a strong and vibrant community of working class people. It has its own internal economy with lots of small businesses such as restaraunts, bars, night clubs, internet stations, furniture stores, and many others.
