If possible, it has even done better than ever before, and favorable reports come from all directions. In the report of the Ohio State Horricultural Society, W. J. Green, of the State Experiment Station, says: " Kansas is a promising black-cap, about as large as Gregg; earlier and of better color. It probably excels any of the medium early varieties in size. As much as may be said in favor of the "Kansas," however, it will probably have to give way to another of Ohio origin, which is not new, but still almost unknown. This variety equals the Gregg in size, and is but a day or two later than Tyler. This variety was first called "Eureka," but was sent to the Experiment Station as nameless, and is now called Mohler. Mr. Farnsworth and I saw it in 1890, and were much pleased with it, but we were cold that is was yet to be named. In 1891 the Nameless fruited at the Station, and was recog- nized as the same as above mentioned. Last season a plantation of the Mohler was visited and found to be the same thing. Whatever explanation can be given for the checkered history of this variety, the fact must be admitted that it has uncommon merit. Its large size makes it a real novelty among early ; DESCRIPTION. The '^Eureka" ripens a few days later than the Souhegan, and earlier than Ohio, coming midway between the two. Fruit large and firm, almost equaling Gregg in size. Quality is of the best. Berry free from bloom, and very attractive in the measure, making it a splendid seller. The canes make a strong, upright growth, with a bright, healthy color, resembling the
