The Chicago Firefighter/Paramedic Memorial near McCormick Place, adjacent to Lakefront Trail. The memorial was created in 2002 with sculptures provided by John Alaniz. The memorial was sponsored by Gold Badge Society of families of fallen firefighters and paramedics. The site includes hand laid stones inscribed with the names of more than 570 Chicago firefighters and paramedics who have been killed in the line of duty since 1857. Firefighter//paramedic John Alaniz created bronze sculptures of boots and helmets and a fireman’s bell for the memorial.
