The first to succumb to the burden of many labors wasGilbert Haven. He was born in Maiden, Mass., September19, 1821, and was educated at Wesleyan University, Middle-town. From 1846 to 1848 he was professor of ancient lan-guages in Amenia Seminary, and for three years thereafterprincipal of that institution. I
