He was made chief boatswains mate uponpassing this examination. Later was made midshipman andgraduated with the rank of Ensign T. U. S. N. Ensign Bostick did convoy work to the hundred mile limit,and was on active patrol duty during the submarine visitationsat Diamond Shoals, Va. 83
