A sailor climbs into a survival raft floating alongside the Polish salvage ship PIAST (281) as part of a search and rescue demonstration by the Polish navy during exercise BALTOPS '93. For the first time in the 22-year history of BALTOPS, the Eastern European countries of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia were invited to participate in the non-military phases of the exercise.
