An open sandwich made from the brown and white meat of a spider crab caught in a drop net that had been lowered off a pier in Dorset. The brown meat has been mixed with mayonniase and spread on toasted sourdough bread. White meat has been added as well as cubed avocado and a garnish of pea shoots and a sprinkle of black pepper. The sandwich is displayed on a slate background. Spiny spider crabs found in UK waters are named Maja brachydactyla while those found in the Mediterranean that are very similar are named Maja squinado.
