Gaschler was recognized for saving the lives of two Paratroopers, May 13, 1965, while serving as a sniper team leader with Company A, 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Abn. Div., during Operation Power Pack in the Dominican Republic.
