The first question that naturally presents itself,is, Does this family history furnish evidence of hereditary predisposition toconsumption? I would answer, Yes. Perhaps some would cavil at this,and ask, Why has not the family of A. P., with a larger family of sons anddaughters, contributed to this consumptive catalogue, as well as those ofhis brothers, Robert Joseph, Joseph Thomas and David? It is not nec-essary, I take it, that every individual or every family should have such anobituary to establish the generally received truth of what is here has been my lot to have resided more than half a century in a community,where, eighty-five years ago, a family lived, and intermarried with cousins,in which insanity had shown itself.
