The introducer says: Among recent bulb introductions we 4oubt if there has in several years been anything brought out wliich is so eminently desirable as this. It is a bulb which has come to stay, and finds its way rapidly in every collection of flowers. Its flowers are enor raous, fully a foot in length. Color, clear, coal black, so in- tense that it really shows a brilliancy, and, as may well be imagined, it is a flower of tha most striking oddity and beauty. The bulbs are large, and should be potted in the Fall, and when gro\vth commences, set in a win- dow. After blooming, the fol- iage will die down, and the hnlh should be kept dry for planting again in the Fall. It is a native of the Holy Land. The leaves are of the richest green, spotted ^vith pure white; the flowers are white, with a rich chocolate throat.
