It does not reflect the loss in values that resulted from defective tree sections culled in the woods. 17/ All logs dissected at the mill were bucked into 8-foot lengths therefore, allowance was made in the No. 1 log grade classification for log length. 18/ Prices paid per thousand board-feet, Scribner log scale, for sugar maple sawlogs at local mills (Houghton County, Mich.) during 1954 were: No. 1 grade, $125; No. 2 grade, $55; and No. 3 grade, $38. 19.
