Rheumatoid nodule on the hand of a 61 year old white male patient with rheumatoid arthritis. The nodules are a manifestation of the disease outside of a joint. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints, leading to painful, stiff and deformed joints. Treatment is with anti-inflammatory drugs.
