Cover, early 19th century, Attributed to present-day Uzbekistan, Bukhara, Silk, linen, in. high in. wide ( cm high cm wide), Textiles-Embroidered, Suzani, literally meaning 'of needle' in Persian, refers to some of the most attractive products of Turkestan's traditional culture. Produced by the women in what is today Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, suzanis were meant to decorate the interiors of homes and therefore are found mostly in settled communities rather than tribal societies
