Cases of this species of curvature, like the foregoing, mustbe kept in the horizontal position, and are exceedinglybenefitted by frictions and compression on the convex partof the curve. A great advantage is derived in these in-stances by the application of shoulder straps, to which aslight weight is attached and passed through an opening inthe plane ;—these will, with pains-taking by the patient, inthe course of a few weeks produce an astonishing effectupon the rounded curve, and, with the adoption of constitu-tional treatment, soon relieve symptoms of a most alarmingnature ; at the same time the health must be strictly attendedto, and such remedies employed, as are indicated by thegeneral symptoms which are observed; the alvine evacua-tions are usually deranged, and the urine very frequentlycontains a great excess of the phosphates, under which cir-cumstance, the liquor potassee will be found very useful,rendering the secretion more clear, and improving the s
