Feeding pigeons in Stari Grad, Sarajevo's Old City, a clutch of wooden and stone low slung buildings straddling the Miljacka River that were built by Turkish traders in the 16th century. Sarajevo was held under siege by Serbian forces for four years from 1992 during the first Yugoslav War, when ten thousand people lost their lives. Stari Grad has since been rebuilt.
