Storing genetic material. Geneticist removing blood samples from a gene bank. These samples are stored in liquid nitrogen at a very low temperature of -196 degrees Celsius, a process known as cryogenic storage. The blood samples are from families affected by genetic diseases and will be studied in order to find the genes responsible for these disorders.
